German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Sam is a gorgeous, fluffy, 4.5 month-old girl puppy who came to us from a Reservation in SD. Sam is a super sweet, affectionate pup who will steal your heart! She's a social butterfly and loves to snuggle right up on your lap to be your best friend.

Sam's favorite toys are anything that the other German Shepherd in the house is playing with! Sam enjoys following her foster sister around like a little shadow and loves to romp around & play in the yard. She does well with kids of all sizes and other dogs. She knows "sit" and "lay down" and understands "no". Sam is doing well with potty-training and leash-training. She rides beautifully in the car without a peep. While she is very playful and all puppy, she settles down nicely and isn't afraid to take a nap on the floor when she is tired. Sam loves laying down and watching foster mom cook dinner or people watching out the window. She also lovesssss to play and dig in the doggy pool. Sam is very food motivated! She does well in the crate, and she will let you know if she needs a potty break while crated.

Sam is a fabulous girl, who like any of our dogs, will excel with active adopters who are able to provide daily walks in addition to backyard playtime, outings for socialization, and the usual training (positive reinforcement training) that GSDs require.

Sam's adoption fee is $395, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.
