German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. 

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. Parker is a really sweet 4.5 month-old Heeler mix puppy. He is super sociable, friendly, loving, fun, and full of energy!

Parker loves people and kids. He's a total lover and cuddler and will happily tackle or smother you with love! He's very playful and loves play-wrestling with the other pups and cat in his foster home. He is still a puppy and just wants to play, but when the other dogs (or cat) have had enough and they let him know, he is respectful of that. Parker is doing great with potty-training. He crates when his fosters are gone during the day, but sleeps on a dog bed at night. Parker is a quick learner, eager to please, and very treat and affection-motivated. He's mastered "sit" and "touch", and is currently working on "stay" and "leave it". He loves all toys but especially the squeaky ones! He is a fabulous puppy with a wonderful, friendly personality.  He will make a great family pet for an active adopter.

Parker's adoption fee is $295, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
