German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Bruno is an approx 1-2 extra-large German Shepherd male. This big boy is very sweet, friendly, affectionate, alert and always ready to be loved on! He is a sociable pup who is great with people and other dogs. He's always wagging his tail and he will walk up to you for a hug. He is just one big lovable guy. Bruno came to us from a high-kill shelter where he had ended up after being confiscated from a hot car. Bruno's owners never went to the shelter to get him back. This was probably for the best, as Bruno was extremely skinny and clearly not well-cared for. We are so glad that we were able to rescue Bruno as he could not be a sweeter, more deserving pup! He will make an exceptionally wonderful addition to the very lucky family who choses him!
